A Little Info

Some Personal Information About Me:

I am a Sports and Exercise Science major University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM where I was born and have lived my entire life.I have always been interested in endurance sports but I didn't get competative until I joined cross country and track in high school. It was not long before I became the team captain and by the time I graduated I had three school records in the mile, half mile and 2-mile. After I graduated I was offered scholarships to run track for the University of Northern Colorado, but staying home was still cheaper so I ended up getting a job and my own place. With my running back ground I have become very interested in triathlons and just recently helped restart UNM's cycling team. GO LOBOS!

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I try to keep a steady training schedule but life comes at you fast, on top of having 16 credit hours a semester I also work up to 30 hours to pay the bills. Luckily alot of my classes are PE classes because of my major so that gives me a few opporotunities to get a workout in when I would otherwise be pressed for time.

Why do you compete?

I think it's fun to push yourself harder than you thought you could, and its always rewarding to win ;) Everyone always talks about doing "fun 5k runs" on holidays and stuff... I have never done a "fun run" in my life, I have to know I pushed my body as hard as it would go or I bum myself out for not trying hard enough.

Why do you like this sport?

Tri's are awsome because the athete has to be so well rounded and practiced in each of the three events. I think triathletes are some of the best athletes out there. You just have to be in better over all shape then if you were focused on a single event. Also, it is nice to be able to change up your training and not get into a monotonous training scheule of the same thing day after day.

Music?

Gangsta Rap... Gets the adrenaline flowing.
